It is not a kit of a car and not a part of a model, but the fitting out of the space around it. A model car standing on a bare base stays merely an object; only the workshop equipment around it creates a story and gives the scene a sense of scale, because a viewer estimates the size of everything else at once from objects he knows.
Put the workshop together according to real practice: the workplace by the wall, a free area for the car in the middle, the small things where they would lie during work. Avoid perfect order, as equipment arranged regularly looks like a sales display, not like a garage in use. Try the layout dry first, with the model of the car as well, and check the line of sight, so that the equipment does not hide the main motif. Glue only once everything is painted, dose the super glue with the tip of a toothpick and roughen the contact surfaces on the larger parts.
Clean the parts up, remove the casting remains and wash them in lukewarm soapy water before painting. Apply a thin base and the base shades; workshop equipment should be varied in color but not gaudy, or it will overpower the car itself. Once dry comes a flowing wash into the seams and recesses and chipping of the paint on the exposed edges of tools and worktops. Make the oil stains and the traces of work deliberately in a very few places: a stain always has a center and a lighter edge, whereas dirt smeared over a whole area looks artificial. At the end unify the whole scene with a fine dust pigment, so that the equipment and the floor share the same weathering, and fix it all with matte varnish. Bring the gloss back in spots only where it has a meaning: on a pool of oil or an oiled surface. Between the layers always let it dry through thoroughly.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue, a base and figures are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
