This set is a fine photo-etched accessory intended for detailing a model of the Soviet Polikarpov Po-2 biplane (originally the U-2) in 1:48 scale. It is not an aircraft kit but a set of thin metal parts with which you replace or supplement selected plastic parts and so raise the realism of the model. It is made by the Czech firm Eduard, a leading name in photo-etched accessories.
The Polikarpov Po-2 (designated U-2 until 1944) was a Soviet biplane of mixed wood and fabric construction from the end of the 1920s. Originally a trainer and liaison machine, it became famous in the Second World War as a light night bomber. All-female regiments flew it too, and the Germans nicknamed them the Night Witches. With tens of thousands built, it is among the most widespread aircraft in history.
Separate the parts carefully with a sharp knife on a hard surface and use a photo-etch bender or a precise ruler for the folds. Bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate) or with slow-setting epoxy. Degrease the brass parts before gluing and paint them once a primer has been applied.
This is a detail accessory, not an aircraft model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
