The Honda S800 is a small sports car from the second half of the 1960s and it holds a special place in the history of the brand: it was one of the first Hondas to reach beyond Japan in any number. Under the hood sat a four-cylinder engine of just under eight hundred cubic centimeters that revved higher than anything its rivals could offer at the time. The car followed on from the smaller S600 and is still a sought-after classic today.
It is a plastic kit in 1:24 scale. That size is the most widespread for car models and even on a car as small as the S800 it leaves plenty of room for a detailed interior and chassis. The model is supplied as a set of parts to assemble and paint.
Cut the parts off with sharp sprue cutters a little away from the part and level the remaining nub with a fine file or a sanding sponge. On a body this small every irregularity shows, so sand it carefully before painting, wash it in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap and let it dry completely. Apply the color in thin coats, otherwise it pools in the edges and wipes out the fine detail. The small interior parts and the instrument panel are easier to paint before gluing, when the brush can reach them from every side.
The set suits collectors of Japanese classics as well as modelers who enjoy working small. Paints, glue and other building material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
