The richest set of the series: stencils for the extensive glazing of the Junkers Ju 87B-2 dive bomber in 1:24 and six parts for the national insignia.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Junkers Ju 87 became a symbol of the first years of the war, although even then it was slow and easily vulnerable. Its strength lay in accuracy: an inverted gull wing, fixed landing gear in aerodynamic fairings and an automatic device that pulled the aircraft out of a dive by itself once the bomb was released made it possible to hit even a small target. The B-2 version received a more powerful engine and a modified propeller, thanks to which it carried a heavier load.
The crew was two men sitting back to back under a long glazed superstructure, which is among the most broken up of its day. It is made up of a row of flat panes in a dense frame, with glazing in the floor for watching the target and a rounded part above the rear gunner. Covering this area by hand with tape takes several hours in a large reduction.
The set therefore carries pre-cut shapes for the whole glazing, separately for the view from outside and for the view into the cockpit. Six parts for the national insignia is the highest number among the sets in this scale.
Work from the rear of the superstructure forward and mark the finished sections on paper with a pencil. With so many parts it is easy to overlook one field, and a missing frame appears only after spraying, when a repair is most expensive. Good lighting from the side also helps, in which the edges of the shapes are more visible than in a view from above.
