An injection-molded plastic kit in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa. The real subject is the Nissan Skyline GT-R in the BNR32 body in Group A specification, specifically the car sponsored by the Kyoseki brand under the name GP-1 Plus from the 1992 season of the Japanese touring car championship. The team, the year and the series are the distinguishing data here — a number of other Group A BNR32 cars in other colors and from other seasons exist as separate items.
The Skyline GT-R of the BNR32 generation was introduced at the end of the nineteen-eighties and was built from the start with circuit use in mind. A forced-induction inline six of 2.6 liters with two turbochargers powered it, completed by drive to all wheels with electronically controlled torque distribution and with steering of the rear axle. In the Japanese touring car championship in Group A specification cars of this type dominated for a long time, and the GT-R name thereby won the position it holds to this day. The racing version differs from the production one in aerodynamics, wide wheels and a completely racing interior.
With Group A racers it is worth proceeding in the order interior, cage, body. Leave the racing interior matte and tell the metal and upholstered surfaces apart by a difference of shade. The body has to be perfectly glossy under the decals, otherwise the edges of the carrier film will show — so apply gloss varnish, lay the decals down with a decal softener and cover them with varnish again at the end. Leave the wide racing wheels and tires matte and add a fine dust shade on the inner side, so that the model does not look as though it came straight out of a display case.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
