1:24 Opel Manta 400 Bastos Texaco Rally Team 1985

Opel Manta 400 Bastos Texaco Rally Team, the 1985 season in 1:24 scale

Decals with the markings of the Manta 400 for the Bastos Texaco Rally Team in the 1985 version. The set is an accessory for a finished model in 1:24 scale.

Belgian colors on a Manta

The name Bastos belongs to a tobacco brand, Texaco to a company in the oil business. In the 1980s this pair financed a number of rally cars in the Benelux countries, and their colors are among the most memorable that the grids of the day offered. A Manta 400 with such a livery appeared mainly at tarmac events, where its firm front end and rear-wheel drive suited it better than deep mud. The set is dated to 1985, so it is aimed at a particular season and not at a general team scheme.

Work tips

• The sponsor areas take up the whole flank, so set aside a quiet hour for seating them.
• A glossy tarmac special deserves polishing, but that belongs before the livery goes on.
• On the edge of the roof, cotton wool with warm water helps and the motif then settles by itself.
• Compare the season against period photographs; the year is part of the name of the set.

Who the set is for

• Modelers focused on European tarmac rallies.
• Collectors of cars with striking period sponsors.
• Builders who want a precisely dated racing car.

The package is intended to decorate a finished model and holds neither the kit itself nor paints, unless stated otherwise.
