A plastic kit of the Porsche 935 circuit racer in the K2 version in the form it took for the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in 1978. Scale 1:24 is the most widespread for racing cars, so the model fits easily into a collection beside other circuit and rally cars. The year in the name relates to the running of the race, not to the scale.
The Porsche 935 was a Group 5 circuit racer derived from the production Porsche 911 Turbo. It was powered by a turbocharged air-cooled flat-six mounted behind the rear axle. The body received widened fenders, a large rear wing and a reworked nose with recessed headlights. Besides the works entries, private teams built their own modifications, and the best known of them, Kremer Racing, marked its versions with the letter K and a sequence number. In the second half of the 1970s the 935 cars were among the most successful machines in endurance racing and started regularly at Le Mans as well.
Work from the interior and the chassis, because once the body is closed you will no longer reach them. Separate the parts with side cutters and sand the traces of the sprue gates carefully, otherwise they will show through a gloss finish. Spray the body with a primer, apply the paint in thin coats and finally go over it with a gloss varnish. Racing cars tend to carry a lot of decals, so apply them to a smooth gloss surface and use a softener, so that they settle even over changes of shape. Mask the glazing before painting and glue it in only at the end, with a glue made for clear parts.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
