This item is not a model of a car but a part for finishing one: a set of resin brake calipers for cars in 1:24 scale. The name gives them as castings meant for racing cars, so in shape they match a sporting multi-piston caliper of the kind a production kit usually only suggests or does not have at all.
The brake system on a car model is constantly in view. As soon as the car has wheels with open spokes, the observer looks straight through them at the hub, and a colored caliper draws the eye at once. Replacing a simplified plastic part with a casting of its own is therefore among the most effective small steps toward the credibility of a finished car.
First wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water so that the remains of mold release agent disappear from the surface. Cut the sprue gates off with a saw or a sharp knife and level the surface with abrasive paper, ideally wet because of the dust. Resin is joined with cyanoacrylate glue and needs a base coat before painting. A saturated red, yellow or graphite color sets the caliper apart from the face of the disc reliably.
