An injection-molded plastic kit of a passenger car in 1:24 scale from the Japanese manufacturer Fujimi. The subject is the first generation of the Golf in the sporting GTI version. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; cement for plastic, paints and basic modeling tools are needed to finish it.
The Golf GTI appeared in 1976 and is to this day regarded as the car that defined the category of hot hatchbacks. The recipe was simple: a light angular body with a tall rear, a transversely mounted gasoline four-cylinder with indirect fuel injection at the front, front-wheel drive and an output of around one hundred and ten horsepower. Against the ordinary Golf it received a stiffer suspension, different wheels and discreet external marks - a red surround to the radiator grille, wider fender lips and a different interior. It was precisely this combination of usability and speed that made the Golf GTI a model a whole range of European manufacturers followed.
The angular body of the first Golf is merciless to unevenness - sand the parting lines on the edges carefully so that they stay sharp. A primer will reveal any remaining scratches; lay the color down in thin coats. Fine lips and trim strips are handled well with a fine brush or narrow masking tapes. Finish the interior and the chassis before you close the body up. Apply the decals onto a gloss base, add a decal softener and finally seal with varnish in the degree of gloss you choose.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
