A detail part in 1:24 scale from the Polish brand Yamamoto Model Parts, intended for completing the rear part of the exhaust of a car model. It is an accessory to a model being built, not a kit of a car. The brand makes several variants of sports mufflers alongside one another and this is the version marked SPEC V, different in shape from the other types in the line.
On a tuned model the choice of muffler says as much about its character as the choice of wheels. A different shape and diameter of tip moves a car from a discreet street build toward a circuit or drift expression without your having to touch the body. The part is therefore suitable as a small swap on a model you have already built out of the box and want to give a hand of your own.
Once it is washed and the casting remains are removed, decide what material you want to pretend to: polished stainless steel means a high gloss and a cold tone, while titanium means a soft semi-gloss with a cast toward violet and brass. Make the decision before painting, because a glossy metal calls for a completely smooth base, whereas a titanium look will forgive a slightly rougher surface. Always darken the inside of the tip, because an empty light-colored tube looks like a plastic casting. So that the part fits into the model, knock its gloss back the same way as on the rest of the underside: a fine coat of dust pigment or of a very thinned brown wash ties the new component in with an older chassis that already has its patina. Glue it with super glue only once the paint has dried, and sand the seating surface smooth beforehand, so that the joint holds.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and without a kit of the vehicle. Glue, paints and further parts are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
