A masking set in 1:24 scale for the Spitfire Mk IX: masks for the cockpit glazing from the outer and the inner side and masks for spraying the markings, intended for Airfix kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk IX is among the best-known British fighters of the Second World War, and in 1:24 scale every detail of its elliptical wing and its glazed cockpit stands out. Large scale makes higher demands on the finish: edges that merge on a small model are visible here at first glance.
The set brings masks for the cockpit glazing for the outer and the inner side and, in addition, masks for spraying the markings. The inner masks make it possible to spray the interior shade on the glazing frames from inside, so the cockpit frame looks three-dimensional as on the real aircraft. The set is intended for Airfix kits; with another kit a fit is not guaranteed.
The masks are stuck on before spraying. First wash the clear parts in lukewarm water and let them dry; grease from fingers is the most common cause of paint creeping under. Lay the mask on, press it down around its edge and only then spray in thin coats.
For builders in large scales who want sharp cockpit edges and markings sprayed in paint. In a large scale it pays off even where taping by hand would take a whole evening.
The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
