A masking set for painting the model of the Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII in 1:24 scale. According to the name it is prepared for Airfix kits.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Supermarine Spitfire Mk.VIII is among the later versions of the British fighter, in which the two-stage supercharged engine came into its own. Compared with the earlier versions it had a strengthened structure and a retractable tail wheel, and it was used above all on the overseas fronts. In 1:24 scale the model is large enough for the final impression to be decided precisely by sharp and accurate edges of the finish.
This is a masking set for painting. The masks are cut to shape, so there is no need to cut tape on the model itself and the edges come out the same width along their whole length. In this scale the masks deal above all with the frames of the glazing and with the other places where the finish has a sharply bounded transition. What exactly the set covers is given in the manufacturer's instructions; according to the name it is prepared for Airfix kits.
The masks are stuck on before spraying, onto a clean, degreased and perfectly dry surface. Press the edges down carefully with a toothpick so that no paint runs under them. Spray perpendicular to the surface and in thin coats; a spray led at an angle gets under the edge of the mask far more easily. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, with tweezers and at a shallow angle, not perpendicularly upward, otherwise you will tear the finish off with it.
The package contains a masking set. The kit, paints and thinner are not included, unless stated otherwise.
