The Toyota Cresta 2.0GT Twin Turbo GX71 completes the trio of related Japanese sedans; a kit in 1:24 scale.

The third of the group of closely related cars differed from its siblings mainly in its emphasis on calm and a representative look. Even so, a sharper engine was available here too, revealed in the name by the GT designation together with the GX71 code. It is exactly this combination of a settled body and decent power that makes the subject a rewarding one.
The differences between the individual types were largely a matter of styling: a different grille, different tail light clusters, different interior fittings. The Cresta was sold through its own dealer network and aimed at a customer who wanted to come across as the more settled sort. The angular shape of the body is typical of the middle of the 1980s and is today part of the reason collectors hunt for these cars.
A discreet body suits muted shades with a proper gloss; polishing after the clear coat has dried helps the effect. The engraved lines around the windows and the doors can be picked out with a thin line of a darker shade, but in moderation, so that the car does not look worn. Wheels tend to be a mark of recognition on this generation, so give them time even when you are otherwise building fast.
The product is intended to be built; the painting and gluing happen at your bench.
