The Toyota Mark II is a roomy Japanese upper-mid-size sedan that was sold on the home market in a wide range of trims. The Grande G designation is part of the version name, as is the number in the title; both separate one form from another within the line. The model captures the car in the 3.0 Grande G version, that is in the better-equipped form, the kind bought in Japan more for show than for the daily commute.
It is a plastic kit in 1:24 scale, the most widespread size for car models. The model is supplied as a set of parts to assemble and paint and it leaves plenty of room for a detailed interior.
According to the name, the package also holds masking for the window frames. That is exactly the part of the body where lining in by brush most often disappoints, because the black frame has to keep the same width along its whole length and have a sharp edge.
Stick the mask onto a clean, degreased surface before spraying, press it down carefully along the edges so that the paint cannot creep under it, and apply thin coats. Take it off while the paint is only touch dry, not once it has fully cured. Cut the other parts off with sharp sprue cutters a little away from the part and level the remaining nub with a fine file. Wash the body in lukewarm water with a drop of dish soap before painting.
The set will please collectors of Japanese sedans as well as modelers who want their window frames done without a struggle with the brush. Paints, glue and other building material are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
