A plastic kit of the circuit Toyota Corolla Levin of the AE92 generation as it started in the Japanese touring car championship in 1990. The Japanese manufacturer Hasegawa issues these racing versions as separate packages of its mold for the AE92, supplemented with decals for a particular livery and starting numbers. It is a classic injection-molded plastic kit in the usual automobile scale of 1:24, supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Corolla Levin with the AE92 designation was built from 1987 as a sporting coupe and liftback with front-wheel drive. In circuit form under the Group A rules of the day it was powered by an inline four-cylinder 4A-GE of roughly 1.6 liters with a DOHC valvetrain and sixteen valves. The car thus belonged to the lowest capacity division of the championship, where racing went on in a dense field of similarly powerful cars and where the result was decided rather by cornering speed, work with the tires and reliability than by outright power. It is precisely these even contests that made the small Levins one of the most popular classes with spectators on Japanese circuits at the turn of the 1980s and 1990s.
On a racing car the result stands or falls with the quality of the finish. Degrease the body first, spray it over with a filler primer and sand down any traces of the mold parting line. Apply the color in several thin coats and let it cure thoroughly, and only then put on a gloss clear varnish. Always settle the decals on a smooth glossy base, help yourself with a softener so that they follow the edges and the pressings, and once they are dry seal them with another layer of varnish. On racing liveries with large areas of sponsor lettering that is the difference between a model and a toy. Mask the glazing and glue it with a thin cement carefully, so that it does not wick under the mask.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
