The Hawker Typhoon of Mark I b in one twenty-fourth. The set covers the glazing from the face and the reverse and offers three insignia masks together with a sheet of decals.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Typhoon got a Napier Sabre in the nose, a twenty-four-cylinder with the cylinders arranged in the letter H and with sleeve valves instead of poppet valves. It was a wonder and a curse at the same time: it gave enormous power, but it caused mechanics in the field such trouble that the start of the whole type's career dragged out into two years of difficulties. When the machine finally settled down, it became the most feared hunter of ground targets flying over northwestern Europe.
A cockpit with a dense framework means that between the individual cutouts strips a fraction of a millimeter wide are left. Pieces like that are not lifted from the sheet with fingers but with the tip of a sharpened toothpick moistened with saliva or water, which takes hold of the film without creasing it. Lay them from the longest bar to the shortest and press each piece down at once, because an end that has not settled will lift at the first breath of air from the airbrush. If a strip tears, do not hurry to replace it; it can be made up from two shorter pieces laid butt to butt.
Cockpit glazing from the outside and the inside, three masks for the national insignia and decals. The sheet is a single leaf and the cutouts on it hold in a position that matches the layout on the real canopy, so the work can proceed step by step without fear of the small pieces getting mixed up. It pays to keep the cut-off remainder of the sheet until the end of the build.
