A set of precisely die-cut self-adhesive masks from the Polish maker Montex, intended for the kit of the Hawker Typhoon Ib aircraft in the early rendering with the side doors of the cockpit in 1:24 scale. In this large scale the glazing of the cockpit is genuinely sizeable and its divided framing is one of the most demanding parts of the whole build - the masks cut this work down to a few minutes and the result is perfectly sharp edges.
The Hawker Typhoon was a British single-seat fighter and ground-attack aircraft of the Second World War, powered by the massive 24-cylinder Napier Sabre. It came about originally as an interceptor, but it made its name above all as a feared attack machine - with unguided rockets and bombs it destroyed German vehicles, trains and fortifications, especially after the landings in Normandy. The early production machines of the Mk.Ib version were distinguished by a cockpit with side doors resembling automobile doors; only later was it replaced by a sliding bubble canopy with a better view.
Degrease the surface of the canopy before masking and transfer the masks with tweezers. Press the edges down thoroughly so that no paint runs underneath them, and apply the paint in light layers - ideally with an airbrush, though a brush will manage it carefully too. Take the masks off shortly after the paint has dried, while the edge is still flexible. On the car door cockpit, pay attention to assigning the individual pieces of the masks correctly according to the instructions.
