The second volume of the American part of the license plate range by Red Fox Studio for car models in 1:24 scale. The contents of the package are a decal sheet, not a kit and not a body part. The set comes into play only at the end of the build, on a finished and painted model.
American license plates are shorter and taller than European ones, and their graphics differ from state to state, because each state designs its own plate, including the colors and additional motifs. On a model of an American car this detail is clearly visible, and an elongated European plate on it looks alien straight away. Look for which state or which period the sheet covers on the box; what decides is the content of the sheet as the manufacturer supplies it.
The decals need a glossy surface, otherwise air is trapped under the carrier and the area will silver. Cut the motif out with a sharp knife close to the artwork, transfer it with tweezers and fine-tune the position with a brush moistened with water. On pressed or shaped areas, a decal softener helps. Once thoroughly dry, coat the area with varnish according to how well preserved the plate should look, and only then work with dust and mud. American cars are often built as a street scene, where a used-looking plate reads more convincingly than a new glossy one.
