Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit by the Japanese brand Hasegawa captures the Volkswagen Beetle, in German the Käfer, in the guise for the Japanese Grand Prix held in 1963.
The Volkswagen Beetle is one of the most widespread cars in history. It was powered by an air-cooled flat-four mounted at the rear above the driven axle, the body was formed by its characteristic rounded shape over a load-bearing platform, and the whole design was simple, light and easy to repair. It was exactly these qualities that also got the Beetle onto starting grids. The first Japanese Grand Prix was run in 1963 at the Suzuka circuit, and its program consisted of races for production cars divided by capacity class; small European sedans including the Beetle started in the least powerful of them.
The rounded body of the Beetle has nowhere to hide a flaw, so it pays to sand the mold seams thoroughly and to use a filler primer. The simple shades of the period look best without an exaggeratedly saturated gloss. The chrome trim, window frames and bumpers come out well with metallic foil or a very fine brush. Lay the starting numbers and markings on a glossy surface and seal them with varnish. The interior of a Beetle is clearly visible through the large glass, so it pays to bring out even the small items on the dashboard.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
