The real subject

The first generation Volkswagen Transporter went into production in 1950 and quickly became one of the most widespread light commercial vehicles in Europe. You will recognize it by its split windshield, its short nose with no engine in it and its unmistakable front panel with the large emblem. The drive was provided by an air-cooled flat-four mounted at the rear, that is the same layout that made the people's car of the same brand famous. The vehicles served as vans, flatbeds, ambulances and mobile workshops, and it is exactly this variety of forms that made them a rewarding modeling subject.

Before you start

• Lay the elements against the parts of the model first and check the size, and only then separate them.
• Wash and degrease the area under them; grease from the fingers holds on more than it seems.
• Check the procedure for applying them and the products recommended in the enclosed instructions.
• Work one element at a time and let each dry before you start on the next.
• Protect a finished area from being touched until the surface has fully cured.
