A gear lever for the interior of a model in 1:24 scale, the B form from the Hobby Design line, replaces the crudely molded lever in the cabin of a car.

The interior of a car model is made up of a few striking elements, and the gear lever is one of them. In a kit it tends to be molded in one with the tunnel or with the floor, so it has a thick shaft and a merging transition. A separately made lever from the Hobby Design line, on the other hand, has a thin shaft and a clearly separated knob, which shows especially on cars with a lowered roof, where the cabin is visible from above.
A cabin is looked at on a model through the glazing, which in itself takes away from the readability. Elements whose outline is clear make up for that loss; a shape merging with its surroundings, on the other hand, disappears altogether. A gear lever moreover stands in the middle of the cabin, so it works as a point for the gaze to catch on and carries with it information about the character of the car as well, whether it is a sporting piece or an ordinary civilian car.
Drill the hole in the tunnel before you paint the interior, so that you can correct the surface. It is a good idea to set the knob and the shaft apart by color, because in a real car they have a different surface. A dark knob with a hint of wear on the upper surface and a matte shaft works well. Fit the lever only at the moment when the cabin is otherwise finished, because otherwise it is in the way when seating the dashboard and is easily bent.
This is an interior accessory, not a kit of a car.
