The kit captures the British light cabin aircraft Miles M.11A Whitney Straight in 1:72 scale. This item is the civilian version of the subject, that is, a machine in the colors of interwar private operation. The Miles M.11 Whitney Straight came about in the middle of the thirties as a comfortable touring aircraft for two sitting side by side. It got its name after Whitney Straight, a racer and pilot at whose prompting the machine was created. It is a low-wing monoplane with an enclosed cabin, a fixed undercarriage with wheel fairings and with flaps, which gave it very decent takeoff and landing behavior for its day. The M.11A version was powered by an air-cooled inverted inline four-cylinder de Havilland Gipsy Major, an engine typical of British light aircraft of that time. The Whitney Straight was among the pleasant and well-handling machines of its class, and a number of examples flew in private hands long after the Second World War.
In 1:72 scale this aircraft is small, which makes it all the more worth working calmly. Try the assembly dry, fill and sand the fuselage joints, because the smooth skin of a civilian machine forgives no ripple. Glaze the cabin only after painting and cut your masks to follow the framing. Civilian schemes tend to be glossy, so build over a filler primer and lay the paint on in thin coats. Before the decals, coat the area with a gloss clear coat, and once it is dry even the surface out according to how polished you want the machine to be.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
