Replacement drive sprockets for the StuG III model in 1:35 scale by T-Rex Studio. This set is late version B in the cut for the Dragon kit. Alongside it the manufacturer offers late version A, and versions for Tamiya of both, so there is a choice according to what you have on the bench.
On German vehicles of the Second World War the details of the running gear changed from one production series to the next, and the drive sprocket is a textbook example. Modelers who build a particular machine from a photograph therefore deal not only with the early and the late version but also with the variants within late production. Comparing the shape of the spokes and the hub in a photograph of the real subject with the parts in the set helps. If you are building a machine with no particular real subject, choose the version that matches the other details of the suspension, above all the type of track and the idler wheel.
Leave the sprockets unglued until the last moment, so that the model can be painted and weathered comfortably. Lift the paint off the edges of the teeth with gentle polishing so that the metal shows through. Apply mud and dust from the bottom up and most heavily into the recesses of the ring, because that is exactly where they stay longest on a real machine. Choose glue according to the material of the parts, liquid cement on plastic and cyanoacrylate on resin, and get the grease off the joints before gluing.
