An accessory set by T-Rex Studio with road wheels of the Panther tank in 1:35 scale, made without the rubber tire. According to the name the package holds two types and four pieces of each. The set is used as a complement to ordinary wheels, not as a replacement for a whole set of running gear.
The rubber tire of a road wheel was a consumable item at the front. It wore, tore and flew off, above all on heavy machines and over long moves. A model that has one or two wheels without a tire in otherwise complete running gear looks at once like a machine with miles behind it, and it tells the viewer more about it than the finest weathering on the hull. Because the Panther had its wheels interleaved in two rows, a bare wheel can be placed in the inner layer as well, where it only shows through between the outer ones.
Paint the bare wheels differently from the rest of the running gear: a base in the shade of the hull, then metallic highlights around the rim and fine traces of rust where the steel rubs against the track. Draw the transition to the neighboring wheels together with the same dust, so that the set does not look like a foreign part stuck on. Choose glue according to the material of the parts. Think the placing through before gluing, because an asymmetric arrangement of the bare wheels looks more natural than a regular one.
