A molding block from the Mr. modeling line, version 2 in double size. A modeling aid for working with molds.
Responsibility details are not available.
A molding block, that is an aid used when making molds. The number 2 in the designation and the figure for double size set this version apart from the smaller basic one; you reach for it where the master does not fit into the smaller block. The exact dimensions and the recommended procedure are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
A mold pays off whenever you need one part several times over: drums, boxes, stones and stumps for a diorama, wheels, tools on fenders or the small things that are easiest to lose during a build. Instead of laboriously making each piece again, a mold is made from a single carefully finished master and further pieces come out of it the same. A mold of your own is also the only way to replace a part that has broken and can no longer be bought.
Finish the master completely, including sanding, because a mold carries over every scratch as well. The space around the master has to be closed, so that the compound does not escape, and able to be taken apart, so that the finished mold can be removed without damage. Mix silicone and casting compounds in the ratio the manufacturer gives, and measure them by weight rather than by guesswork. Work in a well ventilated space, on a mat you do not mind losing, and in gloves. Let the compound cure for the whole time given on the packaging; removing it early will deform the mold permanently.
For modelers and builders of dioramas who multiply small parts themselves. The silicone, the casting compound, the master and further tools are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
