1:48 ejection seat for the AV-8A Harrier is a resin part for the cockpit that replaces the simplified plastic molding with crisply cast detail on an open model.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a single detail part, not an aircraft model. The seat is cast in resin, so it holds crisp edges and the fine surface texture that injection-molded plastic cannot capture at this size. In the cockpit the seat is the most conspicuous feature, especially when the model is built with the canopy slid back, and it is at the same time the place where base kits cut the most corners.
AV-8A is the designation carried by first-generation Harriers in American service with the Marine Corps. It was a light ground-attack aircraft with vertical and short takeoff capability, derived from the British machine and operated from short strips as well as from decks. The crew consisted of a single pilot, and his workplace sat high in the forward fuselage with a good view through the large canopy. The seats used in Harriers came from the British firm Martin-Baker, one of the leading suppliers of escape systems for jet aircraft.
Wash the casting in warm soapy water, otherwise the paint will not hold on it. Separate the casting block with a fine saw and level the surface with wet abrasive paper, protecting your breathing as you do so. Paint the seat away from the model, where you can reach it from every side, and only then fit it into the cockpit. Work with contrast: a dark cushion and backrest against the lighter structural features, then a fine dry brush on the edges. Fix the joint with cyanoacrylate glue, which will not fog the transparent parts nearby.
