Blue Base is a blue shade from the Opaque Colors acrylic line of the Green Stuff World marque, and its name hints at its role in a palette. The word Base denotes a base tone, that is the color laid down first and over which the shadows and highlights are then built. It is not a final shade for the last coat but the starting point of the whole blue block.

Why it pays to have a base tone

Blue is among the shades that are hard to layer in a small scale: too dark a surface loses its texture, too light a one looks plasticky.
