Santa Maria is a plastic kit of the historic carrack of Christopher Columbus in 1:270 scale from the manufacturer Smer.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit captures Santa Maria, the flagship of the expedition of Christopher Columbus, in the small 1:270 scale. It is a compact and simpler kit with parts for the hull, the masts, the yards and the sails, completed by decals and the instructions. The finished model is undemanding on space and is also suitable as an entry into the world of historic sailing ships. Paints and glue are not included, unless stated otherwise.
Santa Maria was the largest of the three ships with which Christopher Columbus crossed the Atlantic in 1492. She was a carrack, that is a sailing ship with a high stern and a full suit of sails, typical of the era of the overseas discoveries. The ship was wrecked at the end of the first expedition off the coast of Hispaniola.
Glue the parts with a thin cement for plastic and tension the rigging step by step. In the small scale a base coat, a fine accenting of the wood with a wash and discreet toning of the sails are enough. The model is a good choice for beginning builders of sailing ships.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
