Model Craft mold seam scraper in a fine version: a steel edge for scraping seams off plastic, resin and photo-etch.
Responsibility details are not available.
A tool with a steel edge for removing mold seams from a model, that is the thin ridges left on a part where the halves of the mold met. The principle is simple: the edge is drawn along the seam and scrapes the material away instead of cutting it. The result is a smooth surface without the grooves a knife or a file usually leaves. This is the narrowed version of the tool, intended for small parts and for places a wider scraper cannot reach.
Hold the tool like a pencil and guide the edge perpendicular to the surface and along the seam, not at an angle. Use light pressure and rather go over it several times, as the material comes away in thin layers. On curved surfaces work in short strokes so that the edge does not slip off the seam. The advantage over a knife is safety: the tool has no point that could slip into a finger, and it therefore suits places where you would otherwise reach for a scalpel.
For builders of plastic kits, for painters of figures and wargaming models and for anyone working with castings where the seams run across detail and a knife would cut it away.
The tool has a sharp edge. Store it out of the reach of children and protect the edge from impact so that it does not become uneven.
