Skoda Favorit 1:28 KLIKLAK SYSTEM is a plastic kit from the Czech manufacturer Smer in which the parts click together and are not glued. Even a child or a complete beginner can therefore build a model of the legendary Czechoslovak hatchback.

That does away with working with glue, with the long drying and with the typical beginner's torment of fingerprints in still soft plastic. The assembly is quick and clean. The package contains plastic parts and stickers to finish the look of the car; paints, thinner and brushes are not included. The finished model is around 13.5 cm long and around 6.7 cm wide, so it is an honest toy-car size rather than a trinket for a display case.
The Skoda Favorit is the car that changed the Czechoslovak carmaker. Series production began in 1987 and the Favorit was the first modern Skoda with the engine at the front and front-wheel drive; after decades of cars with the engine at the rear this was a fundamental technical break. The body was designed by the Italian studio Bertone, which gave the Favorit shapes that looked unusually fresh and modern in the Eastern Bloc of the day. For many Czech families it was the first car they remember, and that is exactly why a model of the Favorit finds a home even with people who otherwise do not build models.
Nip the parts from the sprue with sprue cutters rather than breaking them off, as a cleaner cut means a better click. Level the remnants of the gates with a file or sandpaper. Try the snap-fit joints dry and do not force them together; if a part does not seat, check whether a burr has been left behind. The model can be left in the color of the plastic and merely finished with the stickers, or it can be sprayed or brush-painted for a markedly better result; in that case wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent before painting, apply a thin coat of primer and only then the color. Paint before the final snapping together, as you will not reach the seams once it is assembled. Apply the stickers only to a perfectly dry surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Thanks to the KLIKLAK system no glue is needed for assembly, but paints, thinner and brushes are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
