Responsibility details are not available.
The set belongs to the extensive figure line that the Latvian brand Copper State Models has long been building for the subject of the armored cars of the First World War. The subject is a German member of a crew at an MG 08 machine gun. The 1:35 scale is the most widespread size for military equipment, so the set can be combined with models of vehicles and with diorama accessories from practically any maker.
The MG 08 was the standard heavy machine gun of the German army. It stemmed from the design of Hiram Maxim, it fired rounds of 7.92 mm and cooling by a water jacket allowed it to keep up long uninterrupted fire. At the price of a considerable weight of the whole mounting, which was a hindrance in mobile fighting. That is precisely why the MG 08 also appeared in the armament of German armored cars, where the chassis of the vehicle carried the weight of the weapon. Against the Allied units the German armored cars made up a numerically smaller but technically remarkable group, and they were committed above all on the Eastern Front and to rear-area and guard duties.
Figure accessories of this kind give a diorama scale and action. A figure at a weapon works best in a pair or a trio with further members of the crew, so that a particular situation is legible from the scene. For matching the colors of the whole composition, period photographs and descriptions of German field gray are a good guide, because its shade shifted over the course of the war.
