Fairey Gannet AS.1 SPACE is an Eduard set in 1:48 scale with 3D color interior decals and steel etch. It raises the detail of the cockpit without laborious hand painting.

A set of the SPACE range is not an aircraft kit but an accessory for finishing the cockpit. Its core is a set of 3D color decals on decal paper: the instrument panel, the side panels and other interior surfaces are printed in relief, so once applied they look solid and carry rendered dial faces and labels. They are complemented by photo-etched steel parts including seat belts, which hold a shaped bend well. The decals are lifted off moistened backing paper with tweezers and fixed with PVA glue.
The Fairey Gannet AS.1 was a British carrier-based anti-submarine aircraft of the 1950s. It was powered by the unusual Double Mamba turboprop unit with two coaxial contra-rotating propellers, which could also be run on one engine to save fuel on long patrols. The markedly angular fuselage held a bomb bay and a retractable radar dome, and the crew of three sat in separate cockpits one behind the other. The Gannet served with British naval aviation and was exported to other countries as well.
Spray the surface the decal is to go on in a smooth color and give it a gloss clear coat, so that the decal adheres well and no silvered edges appear. Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixative and do not press the decal until it has grabbed. Glue the steel etch in spots with super glue or with a glue for photo-etched parts. Once everything is dry, flatten the whole interior and leave only the instrument glass glossy.
