Revi 16 – clear 3D print (3 pieces), 1:72

The set contains three miniature Revi 16 reflector gunsights printed by 3D technology in clear resin. The transparent material makes it possible to render the glass reflector of the sight realistically and to lift the detail of a cockpit above the level of the injection-molded parts from the kit.

The real subject

The Revi 16 (Reflexvisier 16) was the standard reflector gunsight of the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It was used in late-war fighters and fighter-bombers; it projected a lit aiming pattern onto a small glass plate in front of the armored windscreen, so that the pilot could aim without taking his eyes off the target.

Usage tips

Separate the parts gently from the print supports, clean them up and wash off any residue. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Leave the clear optics uncovered and paint the metal parts of the sight in a dark color; a small drop of clear varnish strengthens the impression of glass.
