Anakin's racing machine at 1:31 is a Revell kit for the twenty-fifth anniversary of the episode The Phantom Menace.
Responsibility details are not available.
This kit represents the racing machine with which the young Anakin Skywalker won the desert contest on Tatooine. According to the name it is a release marking twenty-five years since The Phantom Menace, and the scale given is 1:31.
The podracer consists of two massive engine pods and a small cockpit tied to them by flexible linkages. In the film the arrangement is a gift to the audience precisely because it looks like a mash-up of parts from a scrapyard: enormous power up front, a fragile seat at the back and nothing but taut energy in between. The race the machine appears in is among the most striking scenes of the whole episode, and along with it the podracer has become one of the most frequently built subjects from the world of the saga.
The assembly divides naturally into the cockpit and the pair of pods, so plan the order of work carefully; both the inside of the cockpit and the powerplants are easier to paint separately. The linkages between the cockpit and the pods have to be seated straight and firmly, or the whole thing will twist. The surface takes honest wear, because the machine was put together from components of varied origin: soot around the nozzles and scuffed metal on the edges will only do the result good. Consider a base with sand as well; it suits the shape.
The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints, glue and other accessories are not supplied, unless stated otherwise.
