This accessory set from the Special Hobby brand brings the German MG 15 machine gun in the conversion for ground use, in 1:35 scale. It is not a kit of a machine but a separate weapon with which you complete figures, the bed of a vehicle, a trench or a field position. The set follows on from the wider range of small arms from the same brand in this scale, so it can be combined with further weapons into one scene.
The MG 15 was a German aircraft machine gun of 7.92 mm caliber with a drum magazine, used at the flexible gun positions of bombers and reconnaissance aircraft. As aircraft armament changed, the weapons stayed in the depots and were modified for ground combat: they received a bipod, a shoulder rest and sights for firing from the ground. In this form they reached the ground units of the Luftwaffe and hastily formed formations at the close of the war, so they suit scenes from the last months of the fighting.
Separate small parts with a sharp knife or a file, not by twisting, otherwise thin pieces risk cracking. Before painting, degrease the whole and apply a thin coat of primer. The weapon reads convincingly in a dark, slightly bluish shade of steel, and the wooden parts are completed with a warmer brown tone. Pick out the edges and the moving parts, where metal polishes up fastest, and at the end bring the weapon together with a thin dark shade in the recesses.
