A set of resin wheels from Armory for the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter in 1:32 scale. This version has spoked (lightened) hubs with recesses; for machines with smooth hubs the maker offers a separate set. The tires are cast with weighted deformation - a slight flattening where they touch the ground - so the model stands on its landing gear naturally, like a real machine. The intricate spoked hubs are exactly the area where a resin casting shows markedly more detail than a split kit part.
The AH-64 Apache is an American two-seat attack helicopter that has served from the 1980s to this day. It has fixed wheeled landing gear with two main wheels and a tail wheel at the rear. The form of the main wheel hubs differs between individual machines and periods - so before building it pays to check the particular machine against photographs.
Wash the castings in warm soapy water, cut off the casting blocks and sand the marks down with respiratory protection. Glue with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Bring out the recesses of the hubs with a dark wash, paint the tires a very dark gray and dust the landing gear gently with pigments.
This is a resin accessory - the helicopter kit itself is not included in the package.
