The Avro Lancaster is a British four-engine heavy bomber of the Second World War and one of the best-known machines of the British night bomber force. The B Mk.I and Mk.III versions differed from each other mainly in the origin of the Merlin engines, that is V12 engines of British and of American licensed production, while inside the fuselage they were practically identical. The crew was made up of seven men and their stations stretched along the whole length of the fuselage.
The set brings colored interior elements printed on decal paper. The print carries three-dimensional relief, so that the instruments, the controls and the padding do not look like a surface with printing on it. The element is cut out of the sheet, soaked for about fifteen seconds in lukewarm water and slid off the backing paper into place. It has no adhesive layer of its own, it holds on a gloss clear, and a decal softener is not needed with it.
In 1:32 scale the inside of the Lancaster is long and once the fuselage has been put together it is hard to get into, so plan the procedure in advance. Spray the surfaces with a base color, let it cure and coat it with a gloss clear. Cut the elements out with a sharp knife, soak them briefly, slide them off the paper into place and press them down with a cotton swab. It pays to work station by station and to keep checking that the finished parts do not prevent the halves of the fuselage from coming together.
The set is for modelers who are building the large Lancaster model from Border Model and want the inside to read well without lengthy painting of small details. Even a modeler who does not feel up to painting instruments by hand will manage it. The package contains only the decals; the model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
