A small but visually rewarding replacement in resin for models of the Messerschmitt Bf 108 in the large 1:32 scale. It is not a kit of an airplane but an accessory for a model under construction. An oil cooler is one of those parts that have a drawn-out internal structure and an open air intake, that is precisely what an injection mold manages only with reservations.
A plastic cooler tends to be molded as a solid block with a suggested mouth, or as a two-part shell with a seam in the middle of the intake. A resin casting can hold the thin rim of the intake as well as the structure of the cooling matrix inside, so that a look into the opening does not end at a blind wall. On an interwar touring aircraft the cooling installation placed under the fuselage or the wing is clearly visible even on a finished model. The number of parts and the contents of the package are stated on the box.
Wash the castings in lukewarm soapy water and let them dry thoroughly. Cut the casting block off with a saw from a place that will be hidden once the part is fitted, and level the surface wet. Before gluing, check dry whether the part sits in the cutout in the skin; deal with small adjustments by sanding the part, not by widening the opening in the plastic. It is glued with super glue. When painting, first spray the inside with a dark color and only then the base shade from the outside, so that the inside of the cooler stays visually deep. A fine wash will bring out the rim of the intake and a light touch of dust on the underside will give a real impression of service.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
