The Messerschmitt Bf 109F, with the nickname Friedrich, was the aerodynamically cleaned-up stage in the development of this fighter: rounded wingtips, a tailplane without struts and a deeper engine cowling. It was powered by the DB 601 inverted V12 engine. The F-2 and F-4 versions differed from each other mainly in armament, while in both cases the pilot's cockpit stayed cramped and full of small details that are on show under an opened canopy.
The set is meant to fit out the pilot's compartment of a model in 1:32 scale and replaces the parts that the kit handles in a simplified way. It is precisely the cockpit where the difference shows first in a large scale, because it can be seen into through the open canopy. What exactly the set holds and what modifications of the fuselage it calls for are given in the manufacturer's instructions; use them also to check which kit it is intended for.
The parts are not polystyrene, so ordinary plastic cement has no effect on them; make the joints with super glue. Cut the excess material off a little way from the part with a sharp blade and sand the remainder down, so that the shape is not damaged. Wash the parts in lukewarm soapy water and degrease them before painting, otherwise the paint will not hold on the smooth surface. The specific preparation procedure is given in the manufacturer's instructions. Dry-fit the cockpit tub and thin the fuselage walls from the inside as needed, so that the halves can be drawn together without pressure. Paint and weather the cockpit before you close the fuselage.
