Masking set for the last production Bf 109, the Bf 109K-4, in 1:32 scale, complemented by a pair of metal machine gun barrels.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Kurfürst was the last version to reach series production in greater numbers, and it started on the lines in the autumn of 1944. With it the designers at last unified what had grown haphazardly on the earlier machines: the engine cowling received symmetrical bulges moved forward, the tailwheel retracted into the fuselage and the main landing gear legs were covered by more continuous doors. A cannon of 30 mm caliber fired through the axis of the reduction gear, and its shell had an incomparably greater effect than 20 mm ammunition. At altitudes around six kilometers the aircraft was among the fastest piston machines of its time.
The package contains two masks for the glazing, one for the outer and one for the inner side, a pair of insignia films with them and two metal barrel parts.
A turned part has an exact diameter, constant along its whole length, so only one thing decides the quality of the joint: the hole you make for it in the model. Measure the shank with calipers, or at least try it in several holes in a test piece of plastic, and start with a drill a tenth smaller. Then enlarge the hole in the smallest steps until the part goes in under its own weight. A loose hole means the barrel will stay crooked and the glue will fix it in that position; too tight a one will push the surrounding plastic apart and white cracks will appear around the hole. Patience while drilling pays off more than any later repair with filler and sanding.
