Model Maker 1:32 Bristol Fighter F.2b in Polish Service is a set of decals and painting masks for the two-seat Bristol F.2B in Polish markings, in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The set is not a kit but an accessory of markings for a finished model. It combines a decal sheet with painting masks, so you can spray the larger insignia through a mask and add the fine legends by decal. In the large 1:32 scale that is practical: a large area of decal film settles less readily over ribbed covering and bracing than sprayed paint does. The manufacturer is Model Maker.
The Bristol F.2B Fighter was a British two-seat combat aircraft from the end of the First World War. What was unusual about it was that, despite a crew of two men, it was flown like a fighter, with fixed forward-firing guns and a movable weapon for the observer at the rear. The arrangement, with the fuselage slung between the lifting surfaces, gave both crew members a good view. After 1918 machines of this type went out to a number of European air forces, the Polish one among them, where they served in the first postwar years.
A glossy surface is the basis. On matte paint a decal settles badly and air stays under the film, which shows as a silvery haze. Proceed in the order paint, gloss varnish, decal, softener, matte overcoat, therefore. On aircraft with fabric covering a softener is all but mandatory, so that the film draws down into the ribs. Stick the painting masks onto cured varnish and spray in thin layers, otherwise the paint will creep under the edge.
The package holds decals and painting masks. Neither the model nor the paints are part of it.
