The second part of the series of control sticks from Metallic Details is intended for detailing the cockpits of German aircraft in 1:32 scale. The control stick is one of the most conspicuous elements in a cabin, and the plastic part from the box tends to be coarse in its upper section and without any profile to the grip. A resin replacement is thinner and sharper and stands up better to a close look into an open cockpit. It is not a kit but an accessory for a model you already own.
The control stick of German aircraft had, depending on the type, various forms of grip with controls for the weapons and sometimes with further buttons. It is precisely the upper part of the stick that is clearly visible in an open cockpit in the large 1:32 scale, which is why it pays to replace it with a more accurate part on a display model. Dividing the set into parts means that the series covers more versions step by step.
Wash the parts in lukewarm water with detergent because of residue of mold release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a fine saw or a cutter rather than snapping them - the stick is thin and breaks at the bend. Sanding is done wet and with breathing protection. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Apply a primer before painting; then build the interior in the usual way: a base shade, a dark wash into the recesses and fine chipping of the edges with drybrushing. Glue the stick into the cockpit only after the floor and the seat have been painted, because otherwise it gets in the way of the brush.
This is an accessory set, not a stand-alone model. It is supplied unassembled and unpainted; glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
