A resin replacement for the exhaust nozzle for a model of the French delta aircraft, not a stand-alone kit. The Mirage IIIC has a fuselage that ends in a relatively large nozzle surrounded by the surfaces of the rear end, so it is a place the viewer looks at among the first. The casting offers thin edges and genuine depth, which a two-part plastic ring cannot manage.
The Mirage IIIC is a single-engine supersonic aircraft with a tailless layout and a delta wing, that is with no horizontal tail surfaces. Propulsion is provided by one jet engine with an afterburner, and its exhaust nozzle is therefore on the axis of the fuselage, as one whole with the rear end. Within the Mirage III family the IIIC version is one of the earlier ones and differs from the later machines in details of equipment, which is worth keeping in mind when choosing accessories.
Before you reach for the glue, try seating the part dry in the fuselage. Resin can be fine-tuned with abrasive paper more easily than plastic, but fine-tuning after cyanoacrylate glue has set is unpleasant. Wash the casting free of release agent, apply a primer and paint it separately before installation. Apply the metallic shades in thin coats; the depth comes from leaving the interior darker and bringing only the edges out with a lighter metal. Finally run a thin wash along the transition from the nozzle to the fuselage, so that the joint reads as a structural gap rather than a glued seam.
The accessory is supplied unpainted. The set is cut for the particular kit named by the manufacturer; please check before buying that it matches the model you are building. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
