A Montex 1:32 masking set for the de Havilland DH 100 Vampire is intended for painting the frames of the glazing from both sides. The model of the aircraft is not included.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of templates for painting one of the first British jet fighters. According to the name it is the version for the outer and the inner side, so the cockpit keeps a clean look from both views. The item is an accessory to a build and contains no plastic parts.
The de Havilland Vampire was the second jet type to enter service with the Royal Air Force. Characteristic of it are its short fuselage nacelle with two tail booms and its de Havilland Goblin turbojet with a centrifugal compressor. The front part of the fuselage drew on the experience with wooden construction that the company had mastered on the Mosquito. The Vampire also entered the history of carrier flying – it was the first jet aircraft to land on the deck of an aircraft carrier. It served for a long time and in many countries, including two-seat training versions.
The glazing of the Vampire is a large visible area, so it pays to protect it throughout the build, not only during the final painting. Fit the templates before filling the seams so that no sanding dust gets onto the glass. After removal, check the edges against the light and correct any creep with a fine brush.
