This item is not a kit of the aircraft. It is a masking set for a model of the British Vampire jet aircraft in 1:32 scale. The pre-cut self-adhesive masks are stuck onto the clear parts, the paint is sprayed over them and once they are lifted a crisp boundary stays between the frame and the glazing.
Why it pays off on the Vampire - the cockpit canopy is rounded and clean in shape, which when cutting tape by hand means a lot of laborious copying of curves. A pre-cut mask does away with that step and, above all, removes the risk of scratching the clear part with a scalpel, as it practically cannot be repaired.
The de Havilland DH.100 Vampire was a first-generation British single-engine jet aircraft that flew while the Second World War was still on and entered service shortly after it. Characteristic is the layout with a short fuselage nacelle and a pair of tail booms, which shortened the exhaust duct and reduced the losses of the jet engine of the day with its centrifugal compressor. The Vampire became one of the most widespread aircraft of its generation and served in many countries, often in the two-seat trainer form as well.
Wash and degrease the clear parts. Move the masks with tweezers and press them down with a blunt point, giving them more time on the curved areas. Spray thin coats; one heavy coat will leave a step at the edge. Lift the mask off while the paint is dry only to the touch. With postwar machines with a smooth finish it pays to polish the clear parts before masking and to go over them with gloss varnish; the edge then comes out even cleaner.
The masks are an accessory for a kit. The kit itself and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
