This item is a masking accessory, not a kit. It is a set of pre-cut painting masks from the Czech brand Eduard, meant for a model of the Grumman F4F carrier fighter in 1:32 scale. The masks are stuck onto the glazed and other areas of the model that should stay clean or take a separate shade, and they are removed after spraying. The scope of the set, that is whether it covers only the canopy or the wheels and other areas as well, is shown on the sheet and in the enclosed instructions.
The Grumman F4F was an American single-seat carrier fighter from the turn of the 1930s and 1940s. It had a short, barrel-shaped fuselage with a radial engine, a wing set at mid-fuselage and unusually narrow landing gear retracted into the fuselage by a hand crank. The framed canopy with its many bars is exactly the kind of detail that makes painting masks worthwhile: masking so many panes by hand with tape would take an unreasonable amount of time and the edge would not be as sharp.
Wash and degrease the glazed parts before masking so that the mask holds. Lift the mask off the sheet with tweezers, lay it on the glass and press the edges down with a blunt toothpick — it is exactly the pressure on the edge that decides whether paint creeps under. Spray in thin layers and preferably in several passes; a heavy layer makes a step at the edge. It is usual to spray the interior shade of the frames first and only then the exterior color. Take the masks off while the paint is freshly dry but not yet fully cured, and pull them along the edge rather than straight up.
This is an accessory to the build, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
