A sizable injection-molded plastic kit of the American carrier fighter Vought F4U-1D Corsair in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The model depicts the later production version F4U-1D, adapted for attacks on ground targets as well. The large scale brings a richly detailed surface, a thorough cockpit and the option of showing the characteristic inverted gull wing folded or spread. Check the exact contents of the package and the decals against the manufacturer's part number for this item.
The Corsair was among the most successful carrier fighters of the Second World War, and you can recognize it by its unmistakable gull wing and its massive Pratt & Whitney R-2800 radial engine. The F4U-1D version was optimized for multirole use: besides six heavy machine guns it could carry bombs and unguided rockets under the wings for attacks on ground and naval targets. The machine became a mainstay of the US Navy and the Marine Corps above all in the Pacific.
At the large 1:32 scale, paint and bring out the cockpit and the engine first, and only then close the fuselage and the cowlings. Glue the canopy glazing with canopy cement and protect it with masks. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic. Apply a gloss coat before the decals and bring out the panel lines with a wash. Fit the external stores only once the painting is done. Complement the typical gloss navy blue finish with restrained wear around the wing roots and the cockpit.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
