The package holds pre-cut masks for a model of the two-seat F/A-18D version in 1:32 scale. It is not a model of the airplane but an accessory used at the painting stage of a kit that has already been assembled. The masks are cut in advance, so there is no trimming of tape directly on the model. The masks are cut for the Kinetic or Academy kits.
The two-seat version has an extended cockpit canopy with two positions, so the framing is longer and more intricate than on a single-seat machine. In 1:32 scale, moreover, every inaccuracy shows at once — a large model hides nothing. A pre-cut mask holds the width of the frame constant along its whole length, and the paint edge comes out straight even where the frame runs from a flat area into a curve.
Degrease the glazing first and let it dry completely. Lay the masks from the center out to the edges and work the edges down properly, otherwise paint will bleed. Spray at a right angle to the surface rather than at a sharp angle — that reduces the risk of seepage under the edge. It pays to spray a thin coat of the frame interior color over the mask first and only then the upper camouflage; any seepage will then not show.
This is an accessory for a model, not the model itself. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package.
