Aires 1:32 Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8, inspection panel, late version is a resin accessory that will replace the corresponding simplified part of the kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of the aircraft, but a resin accessory to one, intended for more experienced modelers. It addresses a single, though visually exposed, place on the airframe: the inspection panel, whose casting carries a finer relief, thinner edges and sharper details than can be obtained by injection molding into plastic. The designation of the late version defines the treatment matching the later series of the aircraft; the manufacturer keeps panels for other variants of the Fw 190 family in the same range as well, so it is necessary to choose according to the particular real subject.
The Focke-Wulf Fw 190 was a single-engine fighter aircraft with a radial engine, a wide landing gear track and a compact, densely equipped fuselage. The A-8 version is among the most numerous configurations of the A series and represents the late state of development of this branch. Access to the equipment inside the airframe was provided by a series of removable panels; their shape, division and latches changed during production, and it is precisely these differences that set the early and the late treatment apart. On a model in 1:32 scale the panels are clearly visible and their precise treatment markedly affects the overall impression of the fuselage surface.
First wash the resin parts in warm soapy water, so that the mold release agent is removed. Cut the casting block off with a saw, not by nipping, and true the surface up on sanding paper laid on a flat base; sand with respiratory protection, best of all wet. Cut the opening in the fuselage out step by step and keep testing dry: better to take off too little and fine-tune than to cut through. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Level the seam with filler and sand it so that the surrounding engraving stays legible; if need be, restore it with a scriber. Before painting, apply a primer and even the surface out, so that the transition between the plastic and the resin does not show once it is sprayed.
The accessory is supplied unpainted as a resin casting. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
