Responsibility details are not available.
A decal set in 1:32 scale devoted to the British four-engine Fortresses assigned to No. 100 Group RAF. It is a separate accessory for finishing a model of your own, not a kit; the package contains neither paints nor glue. DK Decals is a Czech brand whose range rests on little-covered subjects from the Second World War, and this is one of them.
Fortress Mk.II and Mk.III are the British designations for the four-engine Boeing B-17 bombers in the F and G versions, which the RAF took over from American production. With No. 100 Group RAF, however, these machines did not fill the classic bomber role. The group specialized in radio and radar countermeasures, that is in jamming enemy navigation and guidance systems and in deception operations meant to draw attention away from the main bomber streams. The Fortresses suited that work with their large internal space, good range and ability to carry bulky transmitters and their operators. The outward recognition features of these machines tended to be unusual aerials and armament different from the standard bomber versions.
Machines operating at night tend to be finished in a dark matte scheme, which is the hardest to apply decals to. Spray the area with a gloss varnish beforehand, ideally only in strips where the markings will go. Soak the decal, once it has released slide it onto the moistened spot and guide it with a brush. Around aerials and raised parts, never stretch the film by force: let it settle and only then draw it down to the shape with a decal softener; slit any excess with a scalpel once dry and go over it again. A matte varnish at the end returns the surface to a consistent look.
This is a decal set, not a kit. The model, paints, glue and decal softener are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
